Nelissen Steenfabrieken is the "Limburgse Ondernemer van het Jaar 2022"

Nelissen may now call itself the "Limburg Entrepreneur of the Year" a whole year long! This was announced yesterday at the official residence of Governor Jos Lantmeeters in Hasselt.

The "Limburg Entrepreneur of the Year" award was created by Made In and Het Belang van Limburg to award Limburg companies that generate a positive impact on the province. So this year the prize was Nelissen's. In doing so, the Kesselt-based family business made it past the two other nominees, Tribù and Umami Group.

Investment Plan

The jury was particularly impressed by the ambitious investment plan. That plan includes the construction of a new manufacturing hall aimed at carbon neutrality by 2032. To this end, Nelissen will turn to hydrogen as a climate-neutral energy source. Fluxys' future H2 pipeline between Antwerp and Liège, which will run just past the manufacturing site, will play an important role in this.
The total surface area of the manufacturing site will more than double as a result of the expansions, from 12 hectares to 31 hectares. More surface area means more production capacity, more employees and thus a positive impact on Limburg!
